Lost In Time

There is a lady that we love, she's sweet as she can be.
She mostly talks about the past, her heart is there ,you see.

She had a husband and a son, she cared for their whole life.
She did the best that she could do, as mother and as wife.

And nothing did she ever do, without them by her side.
She loved them more than anything, true devotion undenied.

Almost fifty years together, their love forever strong,
Death broke up her family circle, and she was left alone.

She lost her husband and her son, within a month combined.
She'd  never been alone before, she nearly lost her mind.

My husband is her nephew so I guess I’d be her niece,
She loves to ramble on to me, that’s when she finds her peace.

So when she talks about the past, things you have heard before.
Just remember in her heart, they’re alive for evermore.

Until we're old and time drags on, in solitaire, unplanned,
with nothing left but memories, will we finally understand?
