Court Is A Joke March 12, 2003 Donna Eaton, Lexington NC My opinion about the Davidson County Court System, I hate to say but it is a total joke, what good is it for the people that risk their lives to catch the criminals, for the judges to set them free. What’s the deal, I sat in district criminal court today and watched numerous people charged with DWI’s and DWLR charges dropped or got only a slap on the wrist, most of them got prayer for judgments continued. They had it already and were told it would be jail the next time, where"s the justice here, do we wait till they kill by DWI before they are taken seriously? I have to say to the lawyers that really work hard to make their clients look so pitiful, I want you to look your family members in the eyes and pray that it’s not them that gets killed by the person you got off the hook. And to the Judges and DA’s that do the plea bargaining because the lawyer’s a friend or some stupid reason, I ashamed to say that you represent us. You must really be proud of yourselves. I don’t see how you can look at yourself in the mirror. What do you tell your family when they ask how your day went? "Oh I got a drunk driver off today, so be careful and don’t get killed by them, it will make me look bad." I really pray that the next time you see your loved ones that it’s not in a casket. There are a few good judges, Judge Honeycutt, is a very strict judge, but of course the lawyers get their cases postponed for a slack judge, today with a judge that acted like a clown trying to make the people laugh, he did too, the ones that got off, laughed all the way home. It wasn’t like a court more like a circus. He saw it fit to let most all the DWI’s and DWLR’s off with prayer of judgments (that most of them already had anyway) or a pay a small fine. He did tell them they could not drive, wow, that means what to a person that feels they are above the law and the way it looks, they are? The lawyers was using the excuses that they can get their license back in so and so time if they have no DWI charges against them, so they got off with a slap on the wrist so they can get their license back and be drunk drivers with license again to start the process all over. Our court system is a total disgrace. Why waste all the tax money to pay people to catch them and then more tax money on courts to let them go, sound pretty dumb to me, then the same people are in court next for not paying their child support, I can see why they can’t, after paying thousands to a lawyer to get them out of the crimes with their children left to suffer for it, you must be a real proud bunch of people. Looks like half of Davidson County is driving around with no license for DWI‘s. I can see why Davidson County has no chapter of MADD, they probably got fed up with it all. It’s all a joke. One last thing…you might get by with these judges but there will be one judge (the last one you’ll ever see) that you won’t get by with. He knows all about you, and you won’t be able to pay a lawyer to set you free then. Take heed, you might met Him sooner than you think, the next person you kill by driving drunk might be yourself. I was in court just to see justice done. Guess that joke was on me huh! |
